Announcer: Our second co-runner up is Nina Caliente.
Nina (voice-over): I never thought I'd enter a dating competition. I thought I had found the love of my life in Don Lothario. I knew Don had a love 'em and leave 'em reputation.
Nina (voice-over): But I knew in my soul we had something real. That evening when he invited me to the park, I hoped against hope that he was going to ask me to marry him.
Don: Nina, never in my wildest dreams did I think I'd ever want to settle down with one woman. Women come in so many different shapes and sizes, and from different backgrounds. Each of you is a little mystery that I have to solve. I couldn't live long enough to learn all there is to know about women. But, Nina, you've changed all that. I only want to spend the rest of my life learning about you. You're beautiful. You're vivacious. You have a heart of gold. The chemistry between us is off the charts! You are the only woman in the world for me.
Nina: Don, why do I have the feeling there is a but coming?
Don: *sigh* There is a but, Nina.
Don: Ethan.
Nina, I never planned to be husband, so I sure as hell never planned to be a father. But Ethan's here, and my life has to change. My papa ran around on my mama, and it killed her. I'm sure some shrink would say Papa made me what I am today. If there's even the possibility that's true, I can't let that happen to Ethan. I *won't* let that happen to Ethan. I'm going to do whatever it takes to get Dina to marry me.
Nina: *sob* Oh, Don. There's got to be a better way. You can get custody of Ethan. You and I can raise him together...
Don: *shakes head* I can't do that to Ethan, Nina. You and I both know Dina is not much of a mother, but she's everything to Ethan. I won't take her away from him.
Nina: I won't be your bit on the side, Don Lothario!
Don: Nina, I love you too much to allow you to be. I'm afraid this has to be goodbye.
Ethan: Go potty?
Nina: Yes that's a good boy, Ethan.
Nina (voiceover): My heart was shattered, but I wouldn't take it out on Ethan. He was the innocent in all this. Even though, Don, Dina, and I were in a twisted triangle, we all loved Ethan dearly.
Dina: How is Mommy's big boy? Were you good for Auntie Nina? I bet you were! Say, Nina, could you watch Ethan tonight? I've got a date with David.
Nina (voiceover): That was the last straw. I waited for her to put Ethan down for his nap, then I blasted her.
Nina: No, Dina, I will not watch your son so you can go whore yourself around town. Haven't you done enough damage? You had to get knocked up with the one guy I was truly loved.
Dina: Oh, Nina, not this sob story again...
Nina: Yes, it's this sob story again! Dina, you are the most selfish Sim being I have ever met. I can't believe we shared the same womb. You don't care who you hurt as long as you get what you want. It's got to stop, Dina! For Ethan's sake at least, stop being a spoiled selfish brat.
Dina: Honestly, Nina, you've become as boring as watching my nails dry. Are you done with your ranting and raving?
Nina: Yes, I am done. I am more than done. I'm done with you, Dina. I want you out of this house tonight!
Dina: If that's the way you want it... You're going to regret this tantrum of yours, Sister Dear.
Dina: Don, honey, Nina is being a total pill right now. Could Ethan and I crash at your place?....Thanks, and there's no need for you to fix up your guest bedroom.
Nina (voiceover): Don immediately came and fetched Dina and Ethan. He tried to give me a pitiful look, but I refused to look at him. When they left, I realized that I was alone for the first time in my life.
Nina (voiceover): I couldn't stand the silence, so I invited over Anthony, a guy I had been seeing recently.
Nina (voiceover): One thing led to another... Afterwards, I felt emptier than before.
Nina (voiceover): I flipped through the paper and came across the ad for "The Bachelor." Maybe, I was too cynical, but I decided to apply anyway. At the very least, the competition would keep my mind off of Don and Dina. Who knows? Maybe the Bachelor can help me to believe in love again.
Aw, poor Nina! I'm kind of barracking for her now, even though I'm a Tara fan.
ReplyDeleteSorry to make Nina's story so heart-wrenching!
ReplyDeleteI'll be honest. I was secretly hoping Nina wasn't one of the top three because I didn't want to write her. I had a hard time with figuring out her character when I was blogging the Calientes. The Nina-Don-Dina thing needed some resolution so that the eventual marriage between Dina and Don would be plausible, so this entry gave me that opportunity. Chalk this up to you readers knowing better than I! :)
It's so ironic that I didn't want her in the competition and now I'm kinda rooting for her too.
